How Do You Think Takiko Will Deal With Her Feelings Towards Hideo After Known That He Is Her Mistress’s Lover?

I think she will ignore the feeling she feels for him because after all he is her Mistress’s lover. I also think she will also try to ignore those feelings because if her mistress figured out that she secretly love Hideo she would not be happy with her. Not only happy but she would probably end up send Takiko back to her parents house and I’m sure that’s not something Takiko wants. After all Takiko gets to live a very luxurious life in the Imperial Court.

I feel that it will be difficult for Takiko to deal with her feelings towards Hideo despite knowing that he is her mistress’s lover. I say this because in the book, the author describes that Takiko is fighting her constantly growing feelings for Hideo, and trying to convince herself that what she is feeling is wrong. Another point is that Takiko respects and is trusted by her mistress, giving her more special treatment from her mistress. Takiko wouldn’t want to loss this trust by confronting her feelings and upsetting her mistress because of a man she barley knew.

What Hardships Might Takiko Face In The Imperial Court?

Takiko had always had a very strict life when she lived in her old home. When her father was still alive she had to be live her life in a very mannered way with many restrictions. When her father died and she had to move in with her stepfather she started to feel what real family might look like. She didn’t have many restrictions. She didn’t have to be ‘picture perfect’. She got to learn many new things, which she wouldn’t have learned when she was the daughter of a samurai.

Now when Takiko had lived in her new home for over two years and actually had a chance to have a fresh starts she had to move again, but this time it wasn’t to just another home but it was to the Imperial Court. Some hardships she might face is reshaping her identity and personality again according to what is preferred in the higher class.

Another hardship would be living alone. Without a mother, father, or a sibling. She would have to learn to be independent just at the age of 13. If I was Takiko I don’t think i would ever be able to take on such a big responsibility. Not only does she will have to be very careful she will also have to live a very formal life, which she wasn’t used to.
Even though Takiko has to face many hardships i think she will be able to overcome those because her character is shown as a very strong woman in the book.

The living conditions a person is raised under and adapted to changes a persons way of life, sense of priority, practices, and the way life is viewed, and lived. Due to this, adaptation and acceptance to a different environment is difficult, and can be hard to face (“fish out of water”). Takiko has lived the past two years with her new father and mother in the country-side. Despite its differences from her previous samurai home, she finds herself well adjusted, and at home. Until one day, I samurai from the imperial palace stops for a rest at her country-side home and is captivated by her beauty, and offers Takiko a place in the imperial court.

The lifestyle Takiko lives in her home, and in the palace will be very different, and I predict many hardships that she might run into living in the imperial palace.

Some possible hardships:
-In the country, the way things operated was very relaxed. However in the palace, class structure, formality, and strict rules are all around. And may be a major hardship that Takiko will have to learn to overcome.
-Takiko has always lived with her mother, or another family member. In the book, it is also present that her sense of family is very strong. However in the imperial palace, there will be no family members around to support, and help her. Which may be another hardship that Takiko has to learn to overcome.
